5. PLAN YOUR BUDGET
We know it's difficult to know how much wedding flowers and decor cost. We break it down for you in our next topic below.
Budgeting 101 for Wedding Flowers
Setting an accurate budget for your wedding flowers and decor from the beginning will allow you to plan wisely, and also ensure you have the wedding flowers of your dreams. Here's some insider tips on how wedding flowers work:
THERE ARE 4 DISTINCT SECTIONS TO EACH WEDDING WHEN IT COMES TO FLOWERS AND DECOR:
1 - PERSONAL FLOWERS
Bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, flowers for children, pets and people of honor
2 - CEREMONY FLOWERS
Altar flowers, ceremony arches, Chuppahs, backdrops, props and aisle decor
3 - RECEPTION FLOWERS
Cocktail table flowers, dinner tabletop florals and decor, candles, candelabras, large vases, buffet flowers, cake flowers, place card table decor, photo backdrops, dance floor decor, hanging florals, fabric draping
4 - DELIVERY AND LABOR
The costs for the team who will design, deliver, set-up, clean-up, and vehicles for delivery
FLOWERS VS. SERVICES
Typically the first three sections will make up approximately 75% (flowers) of your wedding budget and the last section will make up the remaining 25% (team). Most couples are unaware of the additional costs they will need for the team to execute their wedding flower and decor plan - be sure to budget for this very important service, so you can focus on enjoying every minute of your day.
Depending on the size, style and needs of your wedding you may choose anywhere from just one or two, to all four of sections listed above for your wedding. A "Full-Service" wedding includes all 4 sections - meaning we take care of everything from start to finish.
PRICING
In larger metro areas, full-service weddings range from $3,500 to $7,500 (average being $5,000) factoring together the cost of flowers, decor pieces and an expert design and delivery staff (and don't forget tax). It is true that like the cost of living and other services, wedding flowers do tend to cost more in some areas simply because all the costs that go into a beautiful wedding are higher. Also, guest counts over 150 guests will add to the average price.
WHAT WILL INCREASE YOUR BUDGET?
What about those beautiful hanging installations, custom ceremony arches, backdrops and large centerpieces that take a wedding to the next level? How will they add to your budget? Since these designs require larger amounts of blooms, custom-built structures, longer installation times and more staff they will add considerable costs to the average full-service wedding budget. We recommend adding another 25% - 50% to account for these additions - but even one of these luxurious designs is worth every penny!
